Fruit Bats

We hung a ripe, cut, banana to lure them in, and boy did it work!

Fred lost a bet, so he had to stand under the "bat banana" until I got a good picture of him and a bat. Who looks more batty? haha

The bats got totally ravenous! At one point there were probably 10 bats flying around in our kitchen all going for the same banana! This picture has 4 bats in it! Note the one on the bottom right with banana mush hanging out of both sides of his mouth.

  2. Fruit bats are so cool. I think they are the biggest species of bat there is. I saw a whole bunch in South Africa where they all gathered under a shore canopy a d you could watch really close up! Several of the moms bad babies wrapped in thier wings! They look kind of dog-like... Babies are cute.
